The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.6 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.

As a member of the Knights of Columbus you and your family enjoy many benefits, including 12 free issues annually of the Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family magazine, eligibility to join the Knights of Columbus top-ranked life insurance program, and many more family and personal benefits.

We offer many activities for every one who would like to be involved in their community. This year we raised $5200 for LARC School, a school for handicapped children in Bellmawr.  We gave religious awards to graduates from St. Teresa’s, Annunciation and St. Frances DeSales.  We held a Spelling Bee for eighth grade students, an Essay Contest for grades 5 to 8, a Basketball Free Throw competition and gave out Sportsmanship Awards.  We’ve sponsored Living Rosaries.  Distributed Food Baskets to needy families, collected used eyeglasses and held many social activities for our members. The complete list is too long to mention here but our mission encompasses Faith, Family, Charity and Fraternity.

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus.

Any Third Degree member in good standing, one year after the anniversary of his First Degree, is eligible for membership in the Fourth Degree. The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to our country through active participation in local Fourth Degree groups (called assemblies).  The Bishop Eustace Assembly, who meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Santa Maria Council on Crystal Lake Ave. in Haddon Twp. at 8:00 PM, is the home Assembly for Holy Child Council as well as several other local Councils within our area. Certain members of the Assembly serve as honor guards at civic and religious functions, such as our “flag retirement ceremony” & 4th of July parades and at the confirmations of our children.

The Faithful Navigator of the Bishop Eustace Assembly for 2006-2007 is SK Charles L. McCann Jr., FN. He can be reached at email carnutrtse70@aol.com
